A huge number of Lingerie List readers have larger cup sizes – it’s no suprise given that the average UK size is put at a 36D, but we know that a lot of women are wearing the wrong bra size too. According to Boob or Bust, the average is much closer to 32GG!
I’m always surprised at how hard it is to find a decent larger cup bra, given just how many UK women need a larger size. Here are some of my favourite brands from trying and testing the high street and online shops for a good 10+ years.
Freya (28-40, B-K Cup)
Freya is my go-to brand to everyday bras – I love the Deco range and have a few of them in different colours that I wear under pretty much everything. Their cup sizes run from B to K, but as usual they don’t offer the full range in every type of bra. I can’t fault the support, and they have a huge range of pretty prints and colours – miles away from the drab beige and white bras you get so often on the high street!
Harlow and Fox (30-38, DD-G Cup)
Harlow and Fox are more of a luxury brand than standard, everyday lingerie – their sizes range from DD-G and they have a physical shop in Brighton as well as an online shop. If your size is out of stock, they’ll even make your bra to order within 3 weeks.
Adina Reay (32-36, DD-G Cup)
Adina Reay is another new favourite, offering DD-G bras with gorgeous Austrian embroidery, and century-old lace with details like keyhole backs.
Miss Mandalay (28-38, C-HH Cup)
Miss Mandalay was one of the original brands to make fun, good-looking bras for larger cups. They carry sizes C-HH, in both lingerie and swimwear.
Playful Promises (28-44, A-G Cup)
Playful Promises are a small brand with a commitment to ethical manufacturing, and one of the only small UK brands who run a curve/plus sized collection (with band sizes from 38-42) as well as a DD+ collection. They don’t have a physical store, but you can buy online via their website.
Tutti Rouge (28-44, DD-J Cup)
Tutti Rouge have their own online shop, but you can also buy them through stockists like Bravissimo, Bare Essentials, and Debenhams. They carry sizes D-HH, and are one of the few brands that offer good padding in bigger sizes (it’s their Tutti Booster).
Panache (28-44, D-K Cup)
Panache have been making D+ lingerie for around 30 years, including sports bras that actually work. They’ve won plenty of awards for their efforts, including Sports Bra Brand of the Year and Best Maternity Bra. It’s actually made up of 7 brands that carry up to a K cup – they include Panache, Panache Swim, Panache Sport, Cleo by Panache, Panache Black, Cleo Swim by Panache, and Sculptresse. You can buy them via stockists like Selfridges and Figleaves.
Scantilly (30-38, DD-HH Cup)
Scantilly are a sub-brand from Curvy Kate (below) – they have an online shop and you can buy them from stockists like Debenhams or Figleaves too. Sizes range from DD-HH, and they feel a little sexier than standard Curvy Kate lingerie.
Curvy Kate (28-44, D-K Cup)
Curvy Kate are a great everyday bra brand that cover sizes D-K. They’ve got a few physical stores in the UK, as well as an online shop and plenty of online stockists too.
Elomi (34-48, DD-J Cup)
Elomi are a Wacoal sub-brand, focusing on larger sizes (up to a J cup). You can find your nearest stockist on their site, or take a look at the selection online.
Buttress and Snatch (28-42, A-H Cup & Custom)
Buttress and Snatch are a ridiculously cute brand who cover sizes A-H. All lingerie is custom made to order, so your bra will be individually made for you. You can order online through their site – if you can’t find your size in a particular bra they also offer a completely bespoke option.
Ewa Michalak (24-60, AA-P Cups & Custom)
Ewa Michalak emerged as one of the blogger faves when I asked 14 lingerie bloggers for their best everyday bra. They offer a range of core sizes that go from AA-LL, and the biggest range of overall sizes on earth (from 24-60 back), with other sizes up to a P cup available in certain bras and via custom orders. You can buy online – unfortunately there are no physical shops in the UK but there are a couple in Australia and the USA. If you can’t find your size, they also offer a bespoke option to create a bra that fits you perfectly).
